The Weekly Photo Challenge word is:

indolent \IN-duh-luhnt\, adjective:
1. Avoiding labor and exertion; habitually idle; lazy; inactive.
2. Conducive to or encouraging laziness or inactivity.
3. Causing little or no pain.
4. Slow to heal, develop, or grow.

Remember all the talk about our big plans for the yard? All the get-up-and-go we had a few weeks ago? Yea, me too. Life, illness, work deadlines, hang-ups and project tweaking have all gotten in the way of acting on our intentions. How much of our laundry list of cleaning off and tearing off the deck has been accomplished? None. Nada. Zilch.

So our plans, our execution of starting this project have come to an indolent halt. So they sit, on piles of trace paper, sketches and excavator bids as idle and inactive as the top of this smokestack which has been piled on the back deck for months and months. In reality, it has been rather easy to push this project aside, there have been far more pressing things to do. But there is some disappointments on how slow it has been do develop into action and fruition. I can’t wait until it is done, I can’t wait to get out there and do stuff. But we are very far down on the scale of exertion of any tangible labor out there. It will happen, just far slower than originally conceived.

  1. Are you guys sick, too? And moving in slow motion? The kids are both sick here and I’m planning an all day pajama party here, minus the party.

  2. Take a look at my blog, that’s the picture of indolence. WPC #3 is still on my laptop, along with a half dozen entry ideas, but the only list the blog is on top of is the inactive list. I feel for you guys, Wendy and I are going through some of the same things. I’m just looking forward to looking back and saying, wow, we did a lot.
