Hey, I’m actually using my degree

Glimpses of “real work’ — whatever that is — the kind where I can bill my hours, by basic definition. This is a concept for a prefabricated house on an island on the East Coast I have been doing some design and presentation work for. Simple and rough graphic montages of the building to show connection to place and environment. The building will be barged in- as the island has no roads, electricity, or utilities, so the house is designed to function as it’s own power production and water collection and deal with it’s own waste. Many constraints with the site have resulted in a very unique and highly functional solution. It’s very cool to be a part of this project, though my role is rather minor in the scheme of things. The more this design develops, the more all of us working on it realize the potential is has of being a very amazing piece of architecture. Really, it’s that cool. And really, I am that excited about it. Even the company who is doing the steel fabrication is very excited about this house. Small glimpses, trying not to give too much away, as this concept is still in early development. Fingers crossed, the house will likely be completed within a year.
