Redemptive

This space used to be the downstairs lounge of a shady nightclub in Belltown which was shut down last year after several shootings. Our church bought the building and since November has set to work rehabbing the space, cleaning off all the STD’s, repainting and re-carpeting, tearing out walls, go-go dancer platforms, and all residue of it’s former use. There was even a crack pipe found in a wall cavity, which is fairly iconic to the type of place and type of people who gathered here. Now, several thousand volunteer man-hours later, this same space is the children’s ministry where the under 10 crowd gathers to play and learn about Jesus’ redemption. What a strong testimony this building portrays as a reflection of it’s new inhabitants- people who as our former selves were corrupt and dark, but now in belonging to Jesus walk into the same space, now clean and revamped for a completely different use.

Since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. -Colossians 3:9-10

This past Sunday was the unofficial launch for the Core Group who have been working on this building. There were two packed services, nearly 300 people and about 20 kids per service. If you are in the Seattle area, you should join us for the Official Public Launch on March 16th. More info here.
